Hi there. I’m John, and this blog is my love letter to Software Engineering Management. Although we’re currently in an AI-induced “Great Flattening” in the tech industry, I still wanted to document my journey to become a better manager. What does managing mean in the age of AI? How can we use LLMs to help objectively measure productivity, quality, and predictability? And most importantly, if I automate the metrics, the information synthesis, and the coordination, what will I end up doing?
